Poem:

For the Astronauts
Let’s heat our coffee on the stove,
pull the [pan] cakes from the pan-
I saw butter melt down your plate
and hand. You have sleep in the corners
of one eye and drool down your neck.
Brother, let’s go to the trees to see the
spaceship launch.
Watch them soar.

We tried to fly like them
in the fields
and swim like our
favorite [gold] fish.

He flew and swam better than we could-
leap frogged the stars and all.
